Falsled Kro, Denmark

Falsled Kro is an idyllic roadside inn in Funen, on a small island in Denmark where the world famous Hans Christian Anderson originates from. History dates the inn back to the 14th century, though the current buildings are between two to three hundred years old. The assignment was to extend the hotel with executive suites with fireplaces, ante rooms, modern working facilities and stairway access to large penthouse bedrooms rooms with 4 point bathrooms. Included in the extension was a new restaurant with open firewood grills and show kitchen. The exteriors are in local rural Danish farm style and the interiors are furnished with antique furniture, paintings and fabrics from across Europe. The project was awarded with a local restoration prize.
